The Salvation Army

Communities for Respect is a project designed to promote respectful relationships and gender equity in targeted culturally and linguistically diverse communities in the City of Whittlesea.  Workshops are designed for the young people from these specific communities.

The program does not take referrals as such , however if you are from or working with the culturally and linguistically diverse young people and are interested in finding out more about Respectful Relationships education programs.

Program workshops/sports/dance program goes over 12 weeks, and are designed for young people (12-27 years old) who aren’t attending school.

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

Separated people who are having difficulty coming to agreement on parenting and financial agreements after separation can access our FDR service. Where appropriate, our FDR practitioners can work cooperatively with our Parenting Orders Program, and this team approach can be very valuable for some clients.

Our counsellors are trained to work with a wide variety of issues such as loss and grief, trauma, relationships, depression and anxiety. They see a diversity of people including individuals, couples, adolescents, children and families.

Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS)

This program aims to prevent mental illness in children and young people (0-18 years) by providing a range of services such as family assessment, parenting support, counselling, case-work, parenting education, and service coordination.

We also run family focused seminars and groups that respond to local need and demand.

Family Services

Wellways

Our Family Services program offers families, friends and carers of people with mental illness a range of supports to assist them in their caring role. These supports include psychoeducation, individual 1:1 support and mentoring, peer support and access to respite. Assistance to navigate and access the NDIS is also available.

Available to people aged from 16 to 64 who are in a caring role for a person living with psychosocial disability. The service is available to people who live in the cities of Yarra, Darebin, Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea.

Sessions provide information on the family law system, the impact of separation on children and adults, practical ways to reduce conflict around children and tips and strategies for a workable relationship after separation.

Parenting Orders Program (POP)

Catholic Care

This program helps families experiencing separation or family breakdown to reduce conflict and increase cooperation and communication. It seeks to build on families’ strengths so they can better manage parenting and contact arrangements in the best interests of the children. It is child focused and child inclusive. It is suitable for families who are experiencing conflict regarding parenting arrangements and who have Parenting Orders from the Family Court or Federal Circuit Court.

Smart Moves – Post Separation Parenting Course

This six week course is offered as part of the Parenting Orders Program and helps parents understand the needs of their children, improve communication, problem solving and conflict management skills.

The Integrated Family Services

The Brotherhood of St Laurence Multicultural Communities Team (MCT)

Operates as part of the Northeast Metropolitan Child & Family Services Alliance. The program provides case management support to vulnerable families by promoting safety, stability and development of children and young people. The service, as appropriate, also provides culturally-sensitive intervention with the families to assist in their transition to Australian culture and society.
