Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)

Separated people who are having difficulty coming to agreement on parenting and financial agreements after separation can access our FDR service. Where appropriate, our FDR practitioners can work cooperatively with our Parenting Orders Program, and this team approach can be very valuable for some clients.

Our counsellors are trained to work with a wide variety of issues such as loss and grief, trauma, relationships, depression and anxiety. They see a diversity of people including individuals, couples, adolescents, children and families.

Family Mental Health Support Service (FMHSS)
Drummond Street
This program aims to prevent mental illness in children and young people (0-18 years) by providing a range of services such as family assessment, parenting support, counselling, case-work, parenting education, and service coordination.
We also run family focused seminars and groups that respond to local need and demand.

Parenting Orders Program (POP)
Catholic Care
This program helps families experiencing separation or family breakdown to reduce conflict and increase cooperation and communication. It seeks to build on families’ strengths so they can better manage parenting and contact arrangements in the best interests of the children. It is child focused and child inclusive. It is suitable for families who are experiencing conflict regarding parenting arrangements and who have Parenting Orders from the Family Court or Federal Circuit Court.

ReSource Youth Program
The Brotherhood of St Laurence Multicultural Communities Team (MCT)
ReSource Youth Program works with young people 15-25 years old from refugee, asylum seeker and migrant backgrounds to increase their skills and participation in education, volunteering, training employment and civic engagement opportunities.

Smart Moves – Post Separation Parenting Course

This six week course is offered as part of the Parenting Orders Program and helps parents understand the needs of their children, improve communication, problem solving and conflict management skills.

The Integrated Family Services
The Brotherhood of St Laurence Multicultural Communities Team (MCT)
Operates as part of the Northeast Metropolitan Child & Family Services Alliance. The program provides case management support to vulnerable families by promoting safety, stability and development of children and young people. The service, as appropriate, also provides culturally-sensitive intervention with the families to assist in their transition to Australian culture and society.
